Pediatrics: Helping Children Move, Grow & Thrive

An educational guide for families and providers explaining what pediatric orthotics & prosthetics are, who may benefit, the devices we offer, and how our child‑friendly team works with you throughout growth and development.

What We Do

We design and provide custom pediatric orthotic and prosthetic solutions for children with developmental, orthopedic, or neurological needs. Every device is built specifically for your child’s anatomy and activity level, with ongoing adjustments as they grow. Our care focuses on precise fit and comfort, improved mobility and stability, healthy alignment, and practical education so families feel confident at home and at school.

We collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and parents to create individualized treatment plans and to ensure each device supports your child’s goals—from early intervention through adolescence.

What Are Pediatric Orthotics?

Pediatric orthotics are custom‑made braces that support a child’s bones, joints, and muscles while they grow. These devices guide alignment, improve balance and posture, and strengthen movement patterns. Orthotics may be used short‑term for developmental delays or long‑term for medical conditions. As children grow, we monitor fit and modify each device so comfort, function, and mobility remain optimal.

Who Might Need Pediatric Orthotics?

Children may benefit from orthotic support if they demonstrate challenges with walking, balance, posture, or joint stability. Common reasons include:

  • Cerebral Palsy – improves gait, muscle control, and stability
  • Down Syndrome – reduces pronation and increases ankle/foot support
  • Muscular Dystrophy – assists balance and walking safety
  • Spina Bifida – provides joint stabilization and upright posture
  • Developmental Delay or Low Muscle Tone – encourages proper alignment and muscle engagement
  • Clubfoot, Flat Feet, or Toe‑Walking – gently improves gait mechanics and comfort

Early orthotic intervention can increase mobility, promote independence, and help prevent more complex issues later in life.

Pediatric Orthotic Devices We Provide

SMOs (Supramalleolar Orthoses)

Short ankle braces that stabilize the foot and ankle to improve balance and alignment—commonly used for low muscle tone or pronation.

AFOs (Ankle‑Foot Orthoses)

Braces from below the knee to the foot designed to support walking, control motion, and enhance gait stability.

WHOs (Wrist‑Hand Orthoses)

Lightweight supports that position the wrist and hand to improve grasp and functional use.

Benik TLSO

Soft, flexible trunk support that improves posture and stability while allowing freedom of movement.

Turtle Brace

Remoldable leg brace that provides adjustable support and alignment as a child grows or needs change.

Cranial Remolding Helmets

Gentle helmets used to guide symmetrical skull growth in infants with plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome).

Scoliosis Bracing

Custom spinal braces to help manage curvature, support alignment, and slow progression during growth.

KAFOs (Knee‑Ankle‑Foot Orthoses)

Long‑leg braces providing knee and ankle stability for children with muscle weakness or paralysis.

Hip Abduction Braces

Orthoses that maintain proper hip alignment—often prescribed for hip dysplasia or post‑surgical positioning.

Pediatric Prosthetic Care

For children with limb differences or amputations, we create lightweight, durable prosthetic systems designed for play, school, and sports. Each device is custom‑fit and adjusted regularly to keep up with growth. We provide upper‑ and lower‑limb prosthetics with socket and suspension systems tailored for comfort and function—so kids can stay active and independent.
