An ankle-foot orthosis (AFO) is a brace, typically made of plastic or carbon fiber, that is worn on the lower leg and foot to support and control ankle and foot movement. AFOs are used to address a variety of conditions, including foot drop, gait abnormalities, and ankle instability, by providing stability, alignment, and improved mobility.
